Council 81 Celebrates National Library Workers Day: April 21

Tuesday, April 21, is National Library Workers Day, and while almost every library building is closed or providing reduced services due to the COVID-19 outbreak, AFSCME honors the library workers for stepping up and finding new ways to meet their community's needs.

In Delaware our librarians have been working hard, either at buildings that have been closed to the public or from their homes. They have been working to adapt to this #COVID19 crisis because #librariestransform. They're moving story times online, offering trivia events via Kahoot and Zoom, offering up their pets to be read to by anyone who wants to pop into a Zoom session, and so much more! You can find a calendar of event that libraries all over our state are offering by clicking here. While you're enjoying your libraries virtually for now, make sure when they eventually reopen, you visit them in person, and show your favorite librarian some [socially distance appropriate] love!

As we continue to fight for funding for our frontline workers, our librarians are no different. Libraries are looking for help from the federal government as they prepare to reopen to the public. Please help us fight for #fundthefrontlines.
